This article will explain why it's important to activate 2fa on the rackspace webmail and show you how to do it.
2fa is also known as Multi-Factor Authentication, Two-Factor Authentication.
Why does JUCRA recommend 2fa on your Rackspace Mail account?
You may have your password written somewhere or someone may have hacked your computer or you may have been the subject of a phishing attempt. If someone has your password they can easily log in to your webmail and start causing trouble like secretly forwarding your email or accessing your banking/personal details from your email account.
But, even if they (the hackers) have your password and you have 2fa enabled on your account, they cannot access your mail settings which is why 2fa is an elegant solution to a common security issue.
How to enable 2fa on your Rackspace Mail account
- Log in to your webmail account at www.jucra.com/email/
- At the top of the screen is a hamburger menu to access your settings. Click on that to open the settings.
- Then, select the Security tab and toggle the radio button which enables 2fa and toggle the switch called "Multi-Factor Authentication" to ON position.
- Then choose "Get a Text Message" select your country from the drop-down list and enter your mobile number.
NOTE: if you are familiar with using an authenticator app, then follow that process instead of receiving a text message. - You will then receive a text message on your mobile with a code.
- Enter the code into the webmail system as shown below.
- As long as you enter the code correctly, you will see the message below.
- Then when you next visit the settings, you will see some details about the 2fa etc and the ability to reset it.
