Web design project procedure/steps

Knowledge base article id: 7

You are reading this article to understand how we approach and handle web design projects after the client has has agreed to proceed with a new web site design with us.

We have devised an organised and efficient procedure to ensure that web projects are completed within a reasonable amount of time and that the client understand their responsibility in relation to the design process.

In the steps below you can see who is responsible for each step and how much time we budget for each step. For example in step 3 we account for 3 days for the client to give us the page structure but if they do it on the first day, then 2 days are saved in the project.

Same with step 3, if the client has all the content ready from day 1, then 5 days are saved becasue when we request the content from them, they will be able to give it right away without any delay.

Basically we split a web design project into 10 steps and in the exact order as shown below.

STEP 1 - Site map/page structure
Who: Client
Time budget: 3 days
We request a list of the names of the pages they wish to have on their site.

STEP 2 - Wordpress installation and setup
Who: JUCRA
Time budget: 2 days
We will set up wordpress on a dev domain and create the page structure listed from step 1

STEP 3 - Request content from client
Who: Client
Time budget: 5 days
We will send a request to the client to give us the texts for the site.

STEP 4 - Adding content to site
Who: JUCRA
Time budget: 3 - 5 days depending on complexity of content
We will add the content and research appropriate stock images for the content.

STEP 5 - Request Snag list 1
Who: Client
Time budget: 2 days
We ask the client to review the site and send us a snag list of anything they need changed.

STEP 6 - Complete snag list 1
Who: JUCRA
Time budget: 2 days
We will complete the snag list and and ask the client to review.

STEP 7 - Request Final snag list
Who: Client
Time budget: 2 days
We ask the client to review the site and send us a final snag list of anything they need changed.

STEP 8 -  Complete final snag list
WHO: JUCRA
Time budget: 2 days
We will complete the final snag list and and ask the client to review.

STEP 9 -  Request for launch
Who: Client
Time budget: 1 day
We ask the client to sign off on the project

STEP 10 - Launch site
Who: JUCRA
Time budget: 1 day
We move the site from the dev domain to live domain and make final checks.
