Requirements for Moving Web Hosting and Email to JUCRA Print

  • 1

When transferring your website and email hosting to us, we’ll handle most of the migration process. However, there are a few key details we’ll need from you to ensure a smooth and secure transition.

In addition, please review the following posts:

1. How we handle email migrations
2. How we handle website migrations
3. How we handle domain transfers

Information We Need

1. Domain and DNS Access

We need to know how your domain’s DNS is currently managed:

  • Registrar name (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.)

  • Login credentials or temporary access (if you prefer, you can make DNS changes yourself with our guidance)

  • Whether we will be managing DNS and name servers going forward

If you want us to manage DNS:

You’ll need to update your domain’s name servers to point to ours.

We’ll provide you with the correct name server details once the migration plan is ready.

2. Website Access

To move your website files and database, we’ll need one of the following:

  • cPanel login (preferred), or

  • FTP/SFTP credentials, and

  • Database access (phpMyAdmin or MySQL credentials)

If your site uses WordPress, providing WordPress admin login is also helpful for post-migration checks.

3. Email Accounts and Passwords

To migrate email, we need:

  • A list of all active email addresses

  • The current passwords for each mailbox (or new passwords if you prefer to reset them)

If passwords are unknown, we can help you reset them — but the old passwords are necessary if we’re transferring emails from the old mailboxes to the new ones.

4. Timing and Coordination

Please confirm:

  • A suitable migration date/time window (to minimise downtime)

  • Whether you prefer us to switch DNS or you’ll handle it once we confirm everything is ready

We’ll coordinate so that the DNS or MX record changes happen only after the website and email data are safely migrated and tested.

Optional (But Helpful)

If available, please also provide:

  • Current hosting provider name and plan type

  • Any third-party services (e.g., Cloudflare, G Suite, Microsoft 365) linked to the domain

  • SSL certificate details, if you have a custom one you wish to keep
