You are reading this article because you want to learn how to use Incognito Mode (also known as Private Browsing) to test websites, bypass cached content, or troubleshoot browser-related issues.

How to Use Incognito / Private Browsing Mode

Incognito Mode allows you to browse the internet using a temporary browsing session that does not use your normal browser cache, cookies, or login sessions.

Depending on the browser, this feature may also be called:

  • Private Browsing
  • Private Window
  • InPrivate Mode

Why Use Incognito Mode?

  • Test website updates without cached files
  • Troubleshoot browser issues
  • Log into multiple accounts simultaneously
  • Bypass old cookies or saved sessions
  • Check if a problem is browser-cache related

What Incognito Mode Does

What It Helps Prevent

  • Browsing history being saved
  • Old cookies interfering with websites
  • Cached webpage files being reused
  • Existing login sessions affecting tests

What It Does NOT Prevent

  • Downloads still save normally
  • Bookmarks still save normally
  • Your ISP can still see internet activity
  • Websites can still identify your IP address
